Aden & True Fire
True Fire paced alongside Aden, as he was being led. Aden was frustrated, but he had tolerance over it. After all, he had been working with racehorses most of his life. They all fire like this. True Fire bobbed his head, knowing that they were going to the track. Aden led him over to the paddock to tack him up first.
Fire stared at the track, in anxiousness. He kept glancing at Aden, to see if he was done yet, but he never was. Fire kept nickering and lashing his tail in annoyance. Aden was having a hard time getting the cinch tied. It was pretty large, but not enough for Fire. It was a regular maiden racing cinch he owned, but Fire clearly needed a bigger one. It didn't help that Fire kept shying to the right, nearly running over Aden every-time. Finally, what seemed like forever to Fire, Aden get the cinch tied. That's when Fire broke for the track.
As Aden released the lead rope the safety tie, Fire acted as if spooked and ran off to the track. Fire snorted and bucked happy to be free, running down the stretch. Aden chased after him, but stopped on the stretch as Fire turned around and trotted back to him. Aden glared at him, as he took the reins. The glare turned into a smirk quickly, "So you think your done with your workout?" he chuckled, "We are just getting started."
Aden took the reins and grabbed onto the colt's mane, leaping up into the saddle. The bay colt eyes blazed with fire. He was already sweating quite a bit, so Aden decided, "Okay boy, we are just going to go a little ways today." he stroked Fire's mane, "Nothing fancy." He asked Fire to pick up the pace, and Fire went into an abrupt canter. Aden pulled back on the reins and Fire started side step, almost dancing out a canter. Aden pulled harder and said, "Whoa" Fire pranced at a walk, his feet flying forward. Aden kept going through this about two more times before True Fire stopped, absolutely. They were already pass the wire on the stretch. "Your a tough one, aren't you?" Aden patted his neck, "Okay I think we've warmed up enough with that, let's go!" With those words, Fire launched into the fray.
True Fire actually had a nice easy pace once Aden let him go. His legs were in sync with one another. His eyes were the only things ahead of himself. They searched the dirt that flew up behind him. They seemed to be looking for the wire, or the stretch. Then, suddenly they seemed to find their target as they saw the stretch. True Fire took off at a blazing speed, his eyes wide and head held high. Aden pulled back, because he didn't want the colt to hurt himself, but now Fire would not listen. He was on the stretch and he was ready to win the race against the wind.
Aden kept yelling "Whoa" but Fire wasn't listening. He was enjoying the morning mist fly into his face. Fire passed the wire, in tremendous time. Amazing for a colt his age. Aden finally could pull True Fire up. He leaped off and stroked his neck. Aden's eyes were wide in shock. "You really are True Fire, aren't you?" It was true. This colt was something of true fire.
